Dubrovnik thus became the front station of South Eastern Europe for the increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Europe, mostly outside the tourist season. Du Qinglin, who is also vice president of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, expressed his strong willingness of China to invest in Croatia, especially when it comes to trade, and cooperation on cultural projects.
The meeting also proposed setting up of the exhibition "The Lanterns of Terracotta Warriors in February 2016." (Chinese lanterns in the form of terracotta soldiers), and the mayor also presented the initiative in organizing the event "Year of China in Dubrovnik" with a variety of cultural, culinary and other events .
